Tape To Maintain Your Medical License
Effective January 1, 2002, each physician
must complete twenty (20) hours of CME in order to have an active
license to practice medicine in Louisiana, as mandated by the
Louisiana state legislature.
- All physicians must complete 20 hours
of CME each year, starting this year (2001).
- CMEs must be Category I as recognized
by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
(ACCME). See web sites for details.
- The Louisiana State Board of Medical
Examiners will send a form for annual documentation and certification
of CMEs with each renewal or reinstatement application. The
form should be completed and returned with the license renewal
or reinstatement application.
- Physicians must keep 4 years of CME
records.
